Byzantine and Christian Museum

Founded in 1914 and housed in Villa Ilissia, the 1848 mansion of the Duchess of Plaisance at Vasilissis Sofias 22, with galleries built underground during the 2004 expansion. It holds more than 25,000 objects — icons, wall paintings, sculpture, manuscripts and textiles — from the 3rd century AD to the post-Byzantine period.
