Free-admission days at state sites

State-owned archaeological sites, monuments and museums admit everyone free on 6 March (in memory of Melina Mercouri), 18 April (International Monuments Day), 18 May (International Museums Day), the last weekend of September (European Heritage Days) and 28 October, plus the first and third Sunday of each month from 1 November to 31 March. These apply to state sites only — the Acropolis Museum, which is a separate legal entity, and privately run venues set their own policy. Free days at the Acropolis are busy, and the daily visitor cap still applies.
