An 11 km2 former royal hunting forest north of Copenhagen in Lyngby-Taarbæk, holding around 2,100 deer (about 1,700 fallow, 300 red and 100 sika). At its centre is the Eremitage hunting lodge from Christian VI's reign, at the hub of a star-shaped system of par force hunting roads. In July 2015 it was inscribed as part of the UNESCO World Heritage site 'The par force hunting landscape in North Zealand', and Dyrehavsbakken (Bakken), the world's oldest surviving amusement park, sits at its edge.
