Samos Windsurfing Centre, Kokkari

George Sankantaris hand-built the centre in 1997 on Kokkari beach, on the north side of the island. The wind here is thermal and comes in cross-onshore, light in the morning and building through the afternoon, so the bay works for first lessons and for advanced sailors alike. It supplies a big range of Tabou boards and Gaastra sails, wetsuits, harnesses, shoes and gloves, and has added wing foiling and windsurf foiling in recent years. On site there are showers, a bar, sunbeds and a playground. Open 15 April to 15 November.
