Former fishing village on the north coast: pebble beaches, waterfront tavernas and reliable windsurfing.
About
Kokkari was founded in the early 19th century by people from Mytilinioi and was for years the fishing harbour of the north coast. It kept its low stone houses and its little headland, but the boats now share the cove with people eating at the water's edge. The lanes behind the beach are packed with tavernas, bars and shops, and it has the liveliest evenings in northern Samos. The meltemi wind makes it a well-known windsurfing spot, and the beaches of Lemonakia and Tsamadou are minutes to the west.
