The toughest route on the network: from the sea at Kokkari up past Vronda monastery to Lazaros peak (1,025 m).
About
You start at sea level in Kokkari and gain 1,206 m over 8.8 km to reach Lazaros peak at 1,025 m — nothing else on the Samos Hikes network is harder. On the way you pass the 16th-century monastery of Panagia Vronda (Vrontiani), then climb through mountain vineyards and pine forest. There is water at the Lazaros fountain near the summit, but carry plenty of your own on hot days. Arrange a lift back, or continue the traverse of Mt Karvounis south to Pandrosos on route 24.
