Kamara to Zoodochos Pigi monastery

From the hamlet of Kamara just outside Vathy, an old path climbs gently for 2.3 km to the monastery of Zoodochos Pigi. The ascent is only 260 m and takes about an hour, which makes it a good late-afternoon walk for anyone who does not want a full mountain day. The monastery sits at the eastern end of the island, and from its courtyard you look straight across the narrow strait separating Samos from the Turkish coast. Dress modestly — shoulders and knees covered — and check the opening hours before you go.
