Potami waterfalls & Tsourlei loop

From Potami beach route 2 follows the streambed under huge plane trees and over wooden footbridges to a small pool. To reach the 5 m waterfall itself you have to get into the water and wade or swim upstream for another five to ten minutes, so leave your phone behind — there is nowhere to stow anything further in. The route then climbs to Tsourlei, an almost abandoned hamlet at the foot of Mt Kerkis with old houses and a village fountain, and returns through pines to Potami. Near the start you pass the ruins of St Nikolaos (13th-14th c.) and the Byzantine Metamorfosi Sotiros church.
