Potami to Mikro & Megalo Seitani coastal trail
Photo: Piet Horden · CC BY-SA 3.0
Samos' most walked trail: 3.8 km above the sea to two beaches you cannot reach by car.
About
Route 1 leaves the western end of Potami beach, follows the coastal track briefly, then climbs through old olive groves dotted with pine and cypress, the sea always below. First comes Mikro Seitani, a small white-pebble cove with almost no natural shade, then Megalo Seitani, a long sandy beach with cedars for shade and a drinking-water fountain at its eastern end. It sits at the mouth of the Kakoperato gorge on a protected stretch of coast with no road access and no facilities at all. Carry water and a hat — there is very little shade on the path.
