A lively working village in a fertile valley, with a big square and the Natural History Museum of the Aegean.
About
Mytilinioi is one of the most populous villages on Samos and does not live off tourism, which is why its square is busy year-round with tavernas, bakeries and kafeneia. The village stands at the edge of a valley that was a lake millions of years ago, and it was here, in excavations begun in 1887, that the fossils of prehistoric mammals now displayed in the village's Natural History Museum of the Aegean were dug up. A good afternoon when you have had enough of the beach.
