Big amphitheatrical village at 270m on the Fteria slope below Mount Kerkis, looking out over the Ikarian Sea.
About
One of the largest villages on Samos, stacked up the eastern foothills of Mount Kerkis. Stone houses, flagstone lanes that twist constantly — built that way to confuse pirates — old fountains, small squares and churches. The settlement has been designated one of special natural beauty since 2002. The view opens over the whole Gulf of Marathokampos and the Ikarian Sea. Its port, Ormos Marathokampou, lies about four kilometres downhill, and boat trips leave from there for Samiopoula, Fourni, Patmos and Ikaria.
