Big wild sandy beach at the mouth of the Kakoperato gorge, inside a Natura 2000 area where Mediterranean monk seals are recorded.
About
Samos' most remote large beach, reached only on foot or from the sea; the route from Potami beach is about 3.8 km and takes roughly an hour and forty minutes. Behind its 470 metres of coarse golden sand rise the dramatic Kakoperato gorge and a thick stand of cedars that gives real shade, with not a single building in sight. The area is part of the Natura 2000 network and Mediterranean monk seals are recorded here, so restrictions apply: no camping, no fires, keep noise down. There is a drinking-water fount at the eastern end, but bring your own food.
