Balos Beach

From Koumeika follow the asphalt road towards Ormos Marathokampou, then turn south at the 'Balos' sign for another 1.7 km. The beach is Koumeika's little port, with medium and large pebbles plus some sand at the south-eastern end, very clear water and shoals of fish that make it good for a mask and snorkel. There are sunbeds, umbrellas, showers, changing rooms and restaurants, but none of the bustle of the big resorts. The seabed drops away steeply and the pebbles are coarse, so water shoes help.
