Theorema Olive Oil

The Valsamidis family has been making olive oil since 1895. They grow their own olives on the northern side of the island and press the oil in a traditional mill at Ydroussa, a quiet village above Karlovasi, using large stone rollers and wooden hand presses. The main variety is the old local Throumbolia, while Samos Liquid Gold blends Koroneiki with Throumbolia. The mill is certified by Agrocert to produce extra virgin olive oil with the Samos Protected Geographical Indication. There is no organised tour programme, so contact them ahead if you want to see the mill or taste. The office and store are in Karlovasi at 64 Karvouli street.
