Markou Olive Oil Mill

The Markou family started in 1969 with a traditional mill at Koumeika and in 1978 brought the first centrifugal oil mill to Samos; it was modernised again in 2005 and a bottling plant for extra virgin oil was added in 2006. The oil comes from Koroneiki and the local Samian Throumbolia variety. The tour walks you through every production stage with an expert guide, ends with a tasting of their award-winning oil and sends you off with a small bottle as a gift. They publish no schedule or prices, so call ahead. An easy stop if you are heading down to the south-coast beaches below Koumeika.
