Vakakis Winery (Vakakis Domaine)

Vakakis Domaine started in 2011 at Megali Lakka, Konteika, four kilometres from Karlovasi on the rural road towards Platanos. The organic vineyards grow Samos Muscat, Assyrtiko, Fokiano and Avgoustiatis alongside the long-lost Black Muscat of Samos. The range covers seven dry, two semi-sweet, four sweet and two sparkling wines. Visitors see the big vats and the bottling line, plus a room of folklore exhibits housed in a restored 1920s building, which is also where tastings are held; the outdoor amphitheatre hosts occasional cultural events.
